Personal Review #3

My Personal Review # 3 is going to be about my new TV, a LG 42 LH40. I lucked out on a tent sale at HH Greg and got this TV at a great price because it was being discontinued. I myself who is lazy and prefers to watch TV in bed found out how great this TV was when I was watching a borrowed DVD of poor quality and saw this TV come to life improving the quality of the picture all by itself.

This TV offers hidden Assisted Technology gems, it has a true motion feature that offers clarity and virtually no blur. This is a feature that would be useful to individuals who have problems with their vision and have trouble following fast moving pictures. This TV would allow the watcher to comfortably watch TV with no problem. The LG LH40 also has a feature that is called Picture this feature allows easy calibration and has on-screen guides for picture quality elements such as color, tint, and back light levels. This would allow users with vision problems to comfortably set the settings to their preference. This LG model also comes equipped with a feature called Clear Voice II it and it is capable of filtering out background noise and keeping the dialogue audible, also has the invisible speaker that allows for a wider sound field. This is a great feature for hearing impaired students that would otherwise have trouble hearing whats happening on screen.

Personal Reflection #2

For my second Personal Review I am going to use the Palm Tungsten E2 handheld. This handheld allows its owner to do so much, which is why I choose it over other book readers on the market. One feature that is helpful to Assistive Technology is that the tungsten offers electronic books in multiple formats; after the books are downloaded you can enlarge the font, make notes or highlight the text. I use this device mostly to download eBooks and I find that I use the text enlargement function the most.
The Tungsten allows you to listen to audio books that are downloaded to the device. I have used this function before and this device made it easy to stop and start the book. The most frustrating thing that I have found in regards to audio book is finding my place if I have to stop, but I didn't have this problem with the Tungsten. This device can also be used as a calendar and allows the user to color-code appointments.

Personal Reflection1

My first Personal Reflection is going to be on my Cell phone. Although Cells phone are constantly being technologically advanced it seems as though their technology changes daily. This is a great thing for assistive technology because lots of useful features are being included on the phones. I recently upgraded to the Sprint HTC Hero200 with Google, before this phone I had a rant so I was limited to what I could do. The Hero is an android phone so now I can shop the android market and download for free or buy apps that will be useful on my phone. My phone did not come with a text to speech application so I went to the Android market and found a free application that conforms to my voice and allows me to talk and text at the same time. I also was able to find an app that runs with Google and is able to translate multiple languages.
